The PTA of PS 110 is composed of an elected Executive Board plus parents/guardians, teachers, and staff, including the Parent Coordinator. We work together to support the school in “growing the hearts and minds” of the students. We cherish the school’s dedication to educating the whole child and commit ourselves to strengthening the school by utilizing the many skills and talents of our PTA’s members.


The PTA’s activities include organizing fundraisers and events, maintaining the school’s website, facilitating monthly school tours, applying for grants, and other crucial functions (see list of committees below).


All parents and guardians of students currently attending PS 110 are automatically members of the PTA. We hope to see you at an upcoming meeting!


The first PTA meeting of the year is Sept 13 at 8:30am.


From October to June meetings will take place on the first Wednesday of every month at 8:30am. Please mark your calendars!

Advocacy: The Advocacy Committee researches and informs the school community about local and state educational issues, such as overcrowding, adequate funding and charter school caps. The committee will communicate with city and state officials to advocate for strong public schools.

Art: The art/decorating committee is a crew of parents who creatively liaison with Mrs. Taylor, the art teacher, on a monthly and occasionally bi-monthly basis to decorate the school with our children’s art work.

Audit: The Audit Committee is formed in the spring and examines the PTA financial records and transactions to ensure that expenditures and income have been properly authorized and recorded. The committee prepares a written report to be presented at a general PTA membership meeting before the end of the year.

Budget: The Budget Committee works closely with the school administration and Executive Board to assess and set financial goals for the PTA. The budget committee is responsible for presenting a written review of the year’s budget and drafting a proposed budget for the following year. The budget is presented at a spring PTA meeting for approval.

Fundraising: The Fundraising Committee oversees general fundraising activities including: direct appeals, bake sales or other types of fundraising sales, and the solicitation of charitable donations from local businesses.

Grants: The Grants Committee, in conjunction with the school’s administration, works to identify the school’s needs, research relevant grants and apply for relevant funding. One of the key components of this committee is to meet and liaise with our local politicians and assist in applying for funding opportunities made available via the local politicians.

Library: The Library Committee keeps our entirely parent-run library running smoothly. They help students check out books, re-shelve books, repair and maintain the collection, and keep the library generally organized. Volunteers are needed to work 2-3 hour shifts once or twice a month. The library team is also looking for volunteers who can help with IT and parent volunteer training when students are not using the library. This year the committee hopes to introduce some special events including story-time for students. If interested please sign up or email us at


Marketing and Outreach: The Marketing and Outreach Committee has the central role of ensuring that the efforts of the PTA reach the broadest audience. This committee is responsible for marketing PTA events (designing materials, handling public relations, writing press releases, etc.) and encouraging parent participation and recruitment in the school in general.

Merchandising: This committee designs and produces school merchandise which is sold via the school website and at events.

Nominating Committee: The Nominating Committee is formed at the February PTA meeting. This committee solicits candidates for the executive board and oversees the election process.

Tours: The Tours Committee is responsible for planning and conducting tours for prospective parents, with support and input from the school administration and Parent Coordinator. This committee also responds to inquiries from prospective parents and introduces PS 110 to the community through participation in local school fairs.

Website: The Website Committee is responsible for maintaining the PS 110K website and class portals. Committee members work with the school administration, the Parent Coordinator, the Executive Board and other committees to ensure that information on the website is continually updated. The committee also trains and support teachers in use of the class portals.

Green Wellness: The Green Wellness Committee strives to promote sustainability initiatives and activities that contribute to the nutritional, physical and environmental health of our students. This committee works towards improving dialogue among parents, staff and students to provide opportunities to move the body, learn in outdoor settings and increase awareness of the connection between nutrition, health and a student’s ability to learn effectively.

Picture Day: Picture day is October 5 and we are looking for 8-10 volunteers to help organize lineups of kids, comb hair and make smiles happen! Volunteers will also be needed for retake and graduation pictures on November 10.

Fall Fest: This community-building event will occur on October 21 and offers families a chance to come together to enjoy craft activities, games, a pumpkin patch and donated baked goods.

Multicultural Holiday Fair: This festive event on December 9, will unite diverse cultural influences through a variety of honored family recipes, crafts, music, entertainment and dance. Santa will be in attendance.

FUN-raiser Party: This fundraising event on March 23, 2018, is the largest fundraiser of the year. Parents can enjoy dinner, drinks and music while bidding on an amazing selection of items in the silent auction.

Sock Hop: Help our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders celebrate the end of testing with a good old fashion Sock Hop! This event will take place May 22-24, 2018.

Community Service Day: Come join us and give back to our park and community. Help us to help our students recognize their ecological impact and help them to leave an imprint at PS110 and McGolrick Park. 100% Zero waste event! This event will take place on June 1, 2018.

Fun!Run: A yearlong effort to increase awareness of our health and fitness while at the same time increasing awareness and raising funds for our enrichment programs. Students will be walking throughout the year and then a culmination walk with pledges will take place on a Friday in the spring.

WORD Book Fair: This book fair in June is sponsored by local bookstore, WORD and just in time for summer reading. Classes visit the school “bookstore” during the school day and families can attend an evening event. Teachers supply suggested reading lists.

Regularly scheduled meetings of the executive board are held monthly, September through June, on the third Friday of every month at 8:30am unless such date falls on a legal or religious holiday, in which case the meeting shall be held on the following or previous Wednesday. Everyone is welcome, but voting is limited to executive board members.
